GTZ India and Eaga Energy India have decided to work jointly on ‘Pan India Biogas Programme’ through the CDM Programme of Activities (PoA) route. The goal of the project is to develop a nationwide programme for setting up household scale biogas units in rural India, thereby avoiding the use of non renewable biomass in inefficient cookstoves and methane emissions from cow dung and other organic waste matter, which are now cycled to produce biogas.

The proposed programme is planned for remote rural areas across India, with special focus on states such as Uttaranchal, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and the North Eastern States.
